For my graduation project, I’ve photographed my own passion: MMA fighting. I’ve followed a Dutch-Egyptian MMA fighter, Heisam ‘titanium’ Saleh, from Kops Gym Amsterdam.
The project started out as really following Heisam in his daily life as a fighter, in the form of documentary photography. Weight cutting, strength&conditioning, fighting but also the damage a fighter is willing to take.
During the proces the documentary got more and more stylised, we also went to the studio to bring out the aesthetic part of fighting.
We win or we learn is about dedication through daily life and never giving in.
